1972 Chevelle SS Wiring Diagrams, Connections and Pictures

After weeks of reviewing wiring diagrams and searching the internet and forums for information, I finally identified all of the various wiring harnesses connections for my Chevelle project.

My car is a 72 Chevelle SS with the following options:

TH400 Automatic Transmission (needs kickdown switch and solenoid connection)

Cowl Induction Hood (needs Cowl Induction Harness)

Gauge Dash with Tachometer

Console (needs console harness)

Originally an AC car - restored with AC delete

Upgraded to HEI distributer

After cleaning and restoring all of my harnesses, I labeled all of the connections and took pictures of them so you can identify visually what each connection is.

All of my harnesses are original with the exception of the engine harness (which was all cut up by a previous owner) and the cowl induction harness (this car originally did not have a functional induction hood). The engine harness and the cowl induction harness are both from American Autowire. They make absolutely beautiful OEM restoration harnesses - perfect in every detail. My only complaint with American AutoWire is that they provide no instructions or diagrams with their "OEM/Factory Fit Replacement - Restoration Wiring Harnesses" (another weekend of research).

I want to give thanks and acknowledgements to all that posted responses to questions on the Team Chevelle Web Forums. And a special thanks to Elree Colby, who has responded to so many electrical related questions on the forums. More pictures can be found on Elree's showroom.
